Day 1 of our first cruise

So today we left the accommodation, I was terrified of Kearie carrying all the heavy luggage down the steep concrete staircase, one slip and you would be a dead duck.  It was frightening.  But she managed okay, Not great accommodation, but it was what it was, it did what we needed, but losing power and water wasn't ideal.

We dropped our laundry off at a place they do it for you, we did that before we checked out, so we can pick it up later, about 1pm.  We meandered down the street to the reception building, they have a rooftop restuarant that serves breakfast until 1pm, so we had a bite to eat there, we didn't mention we had already had cereal at the accommodation, we just soldiered on and had another.  It was nice up there, but no real breeze and they didn't put the fans on, so we resorted to our hand ones, I brought in Bendigo.  I knew they would come in handy, frizbee indeed
We then went down stairs and hung out for about an hour, until we could pick up our laundry, we didn't want to walk back up the hill.

After that we found a nice park to relax in, until we could board the ship.  I noticed that most of the pigeons had either toes missing, or some kind of limp, one looked to have a broken wing, it must be dangerous to be pigeon in Puerto Rico, it looks like a hard life.

We got to board a bit earlier than scheduled and the ship and staff seem to be excellent.  It was so streamlined, no crowds, no pushing, it was a walk in the park boarding this vessel. The one we went on in Greece, was a nightmare, thousands of people trying ot board at once and all the Greeks, just pushing in, it was a nightmare, this was brilliant.

We found our room and it is really nice, a twin with a bathroom.  We then went to the art museum onboard to get welcomed aboard and a free glass of wine, but instead we ended up doing a quiz about the art work, we got 18 out of 20 correct and I was dead impressed with us.  We know nothing about art.  Kearie and Tulio created a secret handshake.  We met a South African who now lives in Australia, he works on the ship.

Our room

We had a tour of the boat, or a quick look around really and then had a quiet drink in one of the bars.  We went into dinner at 7pm and it was delicious.  I am always going to take a pic of my meals, but I get carried away and just start eating, I do like my food. Then it's too late to photgraph it, so I just keep eating... Maybe next time.

Kearie at dinner

I am not sure how much internet I will have on the islands and I refuse to pay the exorbetant prices of the onboard wifi, so not sure how much I can post to keep you updated, but I will do my best.  I am really tired as I didn't get a nap today, I know, how rude...  Kearie up on deck, wanting to watch the boat leave the harbour, I am in our room and I will watch from the huge porthole we have and then hit the sack, I am buggered.

The centre of the ship

Kearie and I won a raffle, that she attended, while I slept.  An artwork pack, I think she is keeping it, it isn;t muy thing.

Tomorrow we get to our first Island.

Talk again soon, I hope
