Lones and Kearie in the Bahamas and the Caribbean

 We are back in Dominica, last time was amazing, with the whale sightings, this time we are taking a land tour, to the Trafalgar falls, by safari bus... Our safari bus Our first stop, at the top of the mountains.  This lovely man played to entertain people. Trafalgar Falls, from a distance.  You could trek up to them, but most didn't.  Our tour was full of overweight folk. The tour was good, we both enjoyed it.  The island is really pretty, but they all are really.  Lovely and green A tree in the botanic gardens, forget the name. In about 1979 or so, they had a hurrican, this tree fell on that bus, overnight, so no one was killed, but it is part of the display in the botanic gardens,.... One of the 365 rivers on the island I love these little finds, what a history this place would have, the tales it could tell There are hot springs on the island, you can smell the suphur.  They say it is good for the skin, I have no idea.  We did a bit of shopping...

   The welcome sign We did a tour of the island, in a rather uncomfortabel bus.  I was seated over the wheel bed, in a saggy seat, so my butt was way down and my knees were way up.  I tried to move to a more comfortabel position and I apparently ripped the back of my dress, which I was not aware of..  Our first stop was a catholic church, it was delightful, I loved it. All higgledy piggledy.  At the back it was like an oasis.  The church stone was black in places, which can happen due to volcanic ash, and some buildings are made from valcanic stone.  Apparently if you paint the buildings it doesn't happen as much, so one guide said.  But this place was wonderful. We then went to the botanic gardens, where I was informed my dress was ripped at the back.  The guide told me and then had a look and told me it was a small rip and I would be fine.  Kearie informed me it was not a small rip and I tried to stay in front of her, lucky I was ...

  The welcome sign I was so looking forward to the glass bottom boat tour, what a disappointment is was.  The glass bottom boat was actually a catamaran with three large boxes in the middle, with trays in them, that had glass bottoms.  When we got out to sea, they lowered these trays until the glass was below the water level.  and you had to stand and look into the boxes to try to sea stuff.  It took them about 15 minutes to secure them and then about the same time to bring them back up at the end.  The water was quite murky, which wasn't  their fault, but the boat was.  I was really disappointed.  They did give us a rum punch, which was quite strong and did help somewhat.  I enjoyed that.  Can't even take your illegal drugs, how boring.... They took us over some statues that had been placed into the ocean after some festival or other, years ago.  But the sea has corroded then and crustaseons have settled all over them, so you ...

We went onto the dock, had a look around and a drink, then we did some shopping for magnets and stuff, then we returned to the ship.  We did not have a tour booked for this island and to be honest, we where both pretty exhausted.  We have had a bit of a cold for the last few days and it has worn us down a bit.  Coughing and sneezing. We really didn't think much of what we saw, but to be fair, we didn't see much.  None of the tours sounded interesting either to be honest. Our ship is huge, but looks tiny next to this mamoth of the sea.  It would be too large for me, ours has enough people. So we just chilled in the pool and by the pool.  I had a nap and we played some trivia etc.  It was a quiet day and I think we both needed it.  I hope the next island is better.  I have booked a glass bottom boat and Kearie is doing a tour of the island. so hopefully we will both have a great day. We didn't get up too early, our tour wasn't until 1.30 pm.  So we had breakfast and wandered down to the pier.  There were a few shops on the dock, but nothing that grabbed my fancy.  I posted yesterdays blog and then returned to the ship The port The welcome sign The island is very pretty, but it doesn't have a lot going on.  We did the town and country tour and the poor guy had very little to tell us.  He pointed out all the other islands that make up the British Virgin Islands, one is owned by a rich doctor, who flies his guests in.  Two are owned by Richard Branson and one has a house built on it by Morgan Freeman.  That was the extent of the info really.  He did tell us the names of the islands, but I can't remember them.  Mostly he pointed out the schools and the shops, "On the left is the boot makers, on the right is a supermarket, where you can get all your needs."
